The laboratory carries out research, training and service in the fields of mycotoxin analytics, microbiology and in vitro cyto- and genotoxicity testing. Food and feed mycotoxin analytics is based on LC-MS methodologies, while LC/MS-IT-TOF (LC/MSn) is used for metabolite identification and quantitative determination. Fully equipped microbiological laboratories are available for quantitative and qualitative food and feed microbiology (germ and mold count, Clostridium perfringens, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli, coliforms, Enterococcus faecalis,Salmonella etc.). Changes in the composition of the gut microbiota due to different nutritional factors is intensively investigated. In vitro tests, comet assay and MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] are applied for the geno- and cytotoxic effect of mycotoxins and other, not identified toxic substances in the extracts of food and feed items. The laboratory works according to the MSZ EN ISO 17025 standard, and has GLPMS (TüV 751420102/2012) certification.
