416 competitors were battling through mud, running and climbing straw bales at the cross-country running race on Saturday, 14 April at Kaposvár University. Our athletes performed excellently as they won two championship titles in the individual race and also a second and a third place in the team competition.
The race was held in bright sunshine with the participation of many local citizens, including young and older people. Kaposvár University and the co-organiser Hungarian Defense Forces had developed a more difficult course than in previous year. The runners had to jump over or climb obstacles and a wet muddy ditch was one of the challenges.
KE Cross Run is becoming more and more popular, and the success is also shown by the fact that it was included among the official sports of the Hungarian University and College Sports Federation. Both male and female individual winners, Bence Szerb and Bogi Mehring are athletes of Kaposvár University. In the team competition the university earned a second and a third place. This year’s race attracted a hundred more runners than last year.
