Over the course of the two-week event, a number of scientific programs and practical presentations were offered to students, who were also invited to participate in 11 interactive workshops led by guest lecturers. The participants of Summer School have gained insight into the most popular sustainability issues. This enabled them to learn more about rural sustainability, waste management, agroforestry, food marketing, modern management theory, computer applications and development, as well as renewable energy.
The factory tour was an excellent opportunity to observe the technology of using alternative energy sources. Bearing in mind the principle of sustainable development, students could also visit a farm where alternative agricultural production techniques are employed. During the trips to local facilities and tourism destinations students got acquainted with the sustainable agriculture at the Centre of Game Management in Bőszénfa, the development of tourism along Lake Deseda, as well as the natural treasures of Zselic Landscape Protection Area by visiting the Zselic Park of Stars.
On the last day of the event students delivered their presentations summing up their newly acquired knowledge and impressions. The ISS was attended by nearly fifty participants, most of the guest lecturers came from Central Europe, contributing to the development of the educational cooperation in the region.
Based on the feedback from the guests, the program of the ISS was excellent and scientifically challenging. The participating students gained new knowledge, valuable experience and built new professional relationships.
