The main tuition task of our Department is to coordinate the Nature Conservation engineer BSc program and the planned MSc program. Additionally, we teach Conservation Assistant Engineers in the form of higher education vocational training. The staff is involved in the activities of the Graduate School for Animal Breeding Sciences. We are responsible also for several courses, such as environmental and land management, organic farming, aquaristics, terraristics and animal protection.
The department's research profile is heterogeneous including studies on the intensive care of indigenous predatory fishes, conservation genetics of the European pond turtle, monitoring and hydro-biological and ecological research of natural and artificial ponds and aquacultures.
Another major research profile of the Department is the complex analysis of invertebrate taxa in terrestrial communities. The department places great emphasis on talent management, the achievements of our students at national research conferences is considered outstanding.
